Where are they Now? Roz from Frasier aka Peri Gilpin

Born Peri Kay Oldham, Peri Gilpin is best known to us as Frasier’s ‘earthy’ radio producer Roz Doyle.

Roz back in the day

A polar opposite to Frasier’s pretentious ways, the straight-talking Roz kept Frasier somewhat tethered to this intellectual plane.

Did you know? The character of Roz is a tribute to Peri Gilpin’s producer on ‘Wings’ was who sadly died of breast cancer in 1991.

But since the sitcom ended way back in 2004 the stars have gone their separate ways. Kelsey Grammer joined the X-Men, David Hyde Pierce flourished onstage and Jane Leeves is getting Hot in Cleveland – but what happened to Peri Gilpin? Well that’s why we’re here.

Since hanging up her headphones at KACL, Peri Gilpin stayed in showbiz starring in a few TV movies and lending her voice to various characters on King of the Hill. She also voiced Professor Kate Corrigan in the animated Hellboy TV movies Sword of Storms and Blood and Iron.

Did you know? Gilpin actually appeared in ‘Cheers’, the sitcom from which ‘Frasier’ was born, but not as Roz, just some random lady named Holly in an episode of season eleven.

These days she’s still inseparable from her Frasier co-star Jane Leeves. Not only are the pair godmother to each others children – aww – they founded a production company Bristol Cities whose last reported project was a pilot for an American remake of The Vicar of Dibley starring Kirstie Alley. It didn’t get picked up.

Peri also recently made a guest appearance in Hot in Cleveland which, wouldn’t you know it, stars Jane Leeves!

Peri’s also had guest spots in Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Medium but now plays Kim Keeler the mother of an Olympic gymnast wannabe in the ‘family drama’ Make It Or Break It.  Flexy.

There. Job done. Want us to find out what happened to any other obscure TV stars? Comment below and we’ll get our investigators on it. Maybe.

Amazing tight acting in Frasier, well written, well acted and just a wonderful show. The cast were so obviously in tune with each other. I can only wish I could be part of something so marvellous! I am thrilled for the whole cast that they had a wonderful time together! Wishing them all the best for the future.

Watching Frasier today in England. This witty show is well done by everyone including the dog and always makes me laugh but all credit to the scriptwriters -that’s the essential part. Peri for me the absolute star but they are all very good.

Using my TIVO box I am gradually working my way through all the Frasier shows. There is a reliably witty consistency in them and the actors all clicked together so well. When I hear of Kelsey’s private troubles I admire him even more as a performer. My favourite was always Peri but Kelsey is the king pin. When I read of his private life I wonder whether he is a bit too much like the character Frasier for his own good. Just a thought but in matters of the heart he so often got [gets] things wrong. Let’s hope he is now much happier. {Not that happiness is something you should chase.]

Good god I must get a life ! Just noticed I put a comment on here last year. Well at least I am consistent.
